The agreement between you and Karde, in plain language. Karde is yours to use, your writing stays yours, and you can leave at any time.
Read the Privacy PolicyThese terms are an agreement between you and Writers Map Pty Ltd (ABN 91 643 545 180), trading as Karde Platform, Melbourne, Australia. They cover your use of the Karde app and website. By creating an account or using Karde, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 16 to use Karde. By using it, you confirm you are 16 or over and that the information you give us is accurate. If you use Karde for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for it.
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. Use a strong password and do not share your login. Tell us straight away at support@karde.co if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account, except where we cause it.
Karde has two plans.
If you started a free trial before we moved to paid-once Professional, your trial finishes as it was set up, and then you can choose to buy Professional time. If you have a monthly or yearly subscription, it continues on the terms you agreed when you subscribed: it renews until you cancel, you can cancel from your account settings, and your Professional access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. If you switch to paid-once Professional, your subscription stops renewing and your new time starts when your paid period ends.
You own everything you create in Karde and keep all copyright and other rights in it. Using Karde gives us no ownership of your work.
So we can run Karde, you give us a limited licence to store your work, back it up, show it to you and to the people you choose to share it with, and let our team see it only when needed to run, secure or support Karde, or when you ask us for help. This licence exists only to provide Karde to you. It ends when you delete your work or close your account, except for backups that expire on our normal schedule.
We do not sell your work, make it public, or use it to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. Our Privacy Policy has the full detail.
Karde is for writing, planning and publishing your own work, and for working on it with the people you invite. You agree not to:
We may remove content or limit access if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken.
Karde, including the app, website, software, design and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights in the Karde name, logo or software beyond using Karde as intended.
Karde relies on trusted companies to work, including Stripe for payments and the providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Links you add, such as a video call link in a meeting, open services we do not run. Their own terms apply to their part, and we are not responsible for services we do not control.
We are always building Karde, so features change, and some may be offered early and change or be withdrawn. Routine changes will never take away your ability to see and export your existing work. If we plan to retire a major feature you rely on, we will give you reasonable notice where we can.
We work hard to keep Karde running and your work safe, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or never have an error. Sometimes we need to pause it for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
Apart from guarantees the law does not let us exclude, Karde is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about Karde beyond those in these terms.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where the law lets us limit our liability, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of supplying it again.
To the extent the law allows, and subject to your consumer rights above, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, from your use of Karde. Where the law lets us limit our liability, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us for Karde in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in this section limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Keep your own copies of important work. Karde's export tools make that easy.
You can stop using Karde and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where the law requires. If we close your account for anything other than a serious breach, we will give you a reasonable chance to export your work first.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make an important change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Karde after that, you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we agree to the courts of Victoria, without affecting any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
