Read the Terms of ServiceKarde is a private place to write. This is what that means, in plain terms. Everything below adds to these promises; nothing takes away from them.
Your manuscripts, scripts, characters, plans and notes are yours. Using Karde gives us no ownership of your work.
Your work is never sold, never used in advertising and never made public by us. It goes only to the people you choose.
We do not use your work to train AI models, ours or anyone else's, and we do not hand it to anyone else to train theirs.
Our team does not read your work as a matter of course. A person only looks when it is needed to run or secure Karde, or when you ask us for help.
Your work is encrypted on its way to and from Karde and kept on secured, access-controlled infrastructure.
Export your work whenever you like, and delete your account and everything in it whenever you choose.
Karde ("Karde", "we", "us") is run by Writers Map Pty Ltd (ABN 91 643 545 180), trading as Karde Platform, Melbourne, Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with the companies that help us run Karde, and only what they need to do that job:
These services are set up to help us understand usage and fix faults. They are not used to read or mine your writing. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our writers or the public.
You own everything you create in Karde and keep all copyright and other rights in it. The only permission you give us is the practical one we need to store your work, show it to you and to the people you share it with, back it up, and help you when you ask, for as long as you have an account.
We do not use your work to train artificial intelligence models, ours or anyone else's. If we ever add a feature that sends your work to an AI service to give you something you asked for, we will say so clearly, keep it opt-in where appropriate, and never let that service use your work to train its models.
We keep your personal information while your account is open, and afterwards only as long as we need to for legal, accounting or security reasons. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information and your work, except for records the law requires us to keep and backups that expire on our normal schedule.
When your Professional time ends, nothing is deleted. Your Professional pages become read-only until you add more time.
We protect your information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by emailing support@karde.co. If you are not happy with our response, you can contact the OAIC at oaic.gov.au. If you are in the EU or UK, you may have further rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including the right to object and the right to data portability.
Karde is not for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
We are based in Australia. Some of the companies that help us run Karde store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. When information goes overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in line with this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make an important change, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
