Effective 1 August 2026 · Version 1.0. The plain-language version of how Karde handles your account, your writing, and your money. If you only read one thing, read the box below.
Karde is a private place to write. Here is what that means, in practice and in plain terms.
Karde ("Karde", "we", "us") is operated by Writers Map Pty Ltd (ABN 91 643 545 180), trading as Karde Platform, based in Melbourne, Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). For your work specifically, the promises in the box above apply in addition to everything below.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Karde, under confidentiality obligations: Stripe (payments), Postmark (transactional email), MailerLite (marketing email, if you opt in), PostHog / Sentry (analytics and error monitoring), and our cloud hosting provider. Our analytics and error tools are configured to help us understand usage and diagnose faults; they are not used to read or mine the content of your writing. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
You own everything you create in Karde, and you keep all copyright and other rights in it. We claim nothing. The only permission you give us is the limited, practical one we need to store your work, show it back to you, back it up, and support you when you ask, for as long as you have an account.
We do not use your manuscripts or other work to train artificial intelligence models, whether ours or a third party's. We do not sell your work, we do not share it with other users, and we do not make it public. If we ever introduce a feature that sends your content to an AI service to give you a result you asked for, we will make that clear, keep it opt-in where appropriate, and never allow that content to be used to train the provider's models.
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations. You can delete your account at any time, after which we delete or de-identify your personal information and your work, except where we are required by law to retain specific records.
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Australian users may ask us to access or correct their personal information, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting privacy@karde.co. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au. If you are in the EU or UK, you may have additional rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR, including objection and portability.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to run the service, and, where enabled, analytics cookies to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Karde is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.
We are based in Australia and use service providers that may store or process data outside Australia. Where we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with this policy.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect.
privacy@karde.co. Writers Map Pty Ltd (ABN 91 643 545 180), trading as Karde Platform, Melbourne, Australia.
The plain-language agreement between you and Karde. It covers your account, your subscription, and your work. The short version: Karde is yours to use, your writing stays yours, and you can leave any time.
These terms are an agreement between you and Writers Map Pty Ltd (ABN 91 643 545 180), trading as Karde Platform, based in Melbourne, Australia. They govern your use of the Karde app and website. By creating an account or using Karde, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least 16 years old to use Karde. By using it, you confirm that you are 16 or over and that the information you give us is accurate. If you use Karde on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secure. Please use a strong password and do not share your login. Tell us promptly at support@karde.co if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, except to the extent it is caused by us.
Karde offers a free plan and a paid Premium plan.
You own everything you create in Karde, and you keep all copyright and other rights in it. Using Karde gives us no ownership of your work.
To run the service, you give us a limited licence to store your work, back it up, and display it back to you, and to let our team access it only when genuinely needed to operate, secure, or support the service, or when you ask us for help. That licence exists only to provide Karde to you and ends when you delete your work or close your account, except for backups that age out on our normal schedule.
We do not sell your work, share it with other users, make it public, or use it to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. This mirrors our Privacy Policy, which has the full detail.
Karde is for writing and planning your own creative work. When using it, you agree not to:
We may remove content or restrict access if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken.
Karde, including the app, website, software, design, and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights in the Karde name, logo, or software beyond the right to use the service as intended.
Karde relies on trusted third parties to work, including Stripe for payments and the providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Their own terms may also apply to their part of the service. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.
We are actively building Karde, so features may change, and some may be offered as beta or early-access and can change or be withdrawn. We will not remove your ability to access and export your existing work as part of routine changes. If we plan to retire a significant feature you rely on, we will give reasonable notice where we can.
We work hard to keep Karde available and your work safe, but we do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may occasionally need to suspend the service for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
Except for guarantees that cannot be excluded by law, Karde is provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we do not make promises about the service beyond those in these terms.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where our liability can be limited by law, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.
To the extent permitted by law, and subject to the consumer rights above, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of Karde. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Karde in the 12 months before the claim.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of important work. We provide export tools so you can do this easily.
You can stop using Karde and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law. If we close your account for a reason other than a serious breach, we will give you a reasonable chance to export your work first.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Karde after that, you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of that state, without affecting any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
